Since its inception, God’s Spirit has enlivened the Methodist movement. In the 1720s John and Charles Wesley and friends at Oxford University met together to deepen their Christian faith through daily, practical spiritual disciplines. Derided by others as a “new sect of Methodists” for their “methodical” ways of practicing the faith and holding one another accountable to it, the small group embraced the insult and persevered in their fellowship. And so they and the millions who followed after them have ever since been known as “the people called Methodists.”
Renewal Methodist Church is excited by its connection to the more than 6,000 Global Methodist Churches across the globe. We invite you to learn more about the Global Methodist Church by clicking the link below.
Vision Statement
Anchored in the timeless teachings of the Bible, we commit to creating repentant, baptized, and entirely sanctified disciples of Jesus Christ that fully reflect the loving holiness of God.
Mission Statement
We empower Christ followers by deeply submitting to Biblical teaching in every aspect of congregational life, thereby transforming lives and establishing a legacy of discipleship in our community.
Beliefs
God the Father (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4)
•We firmly believe in one eternal, almighty God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the embodiment of power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love.
• As the Creator and Sustainer, God rules over all things for His glory and for humanity's benefit, exhibiting a gracious and wise control over the universe.
Jesus Christ (John 1:1,14, Colossians 2:9)
Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, is both divine and human, encapsulating these two natures within His divine persona.
• Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, led a sinless life, performed miracles, taught with divine authority, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and His death on the cross provided atonement for our sins. He resurrected, appeared to His disciples, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory to establish His kingdom fully.
• Jesus Christ is the sole mediator between God and humanity, offering salvation to all who repent of their sin and seek to follow him.
The Holy Spirit (John 14:26, Acts 1:8)
• The Holy Spirit, the third persona of the Trinity, proceeds from the Father and the Son. He inspired the prophets and apostles, guided the composition of Scripture, and continues to enlighten us through God's Word.
• The Spirit invites sinners to repentance and a new life in Christ. He lives within believers, sanctifying, equipping, guiding, comforting, and empowering them for godly living and service.
The Church (Matthew 16:18)
• The universal church is the fellowship of all true believers under Christ's lordship. Local churches like ours gather for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and to fulfill Christ's mission.
• The church administers two sacraments instituted by Christ: baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism symbolizes entrance into the covenant community, and the Lord's Supper nourishes believers spiritually.
Salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9)
• Humanity, marred by sin, is incapable of self-salvation. Salvation is by God's grace alone, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, leading to justification, regeneration, sanctification, and ultimately glorification.
• Good works and holiness of heart and life are essential evidences of living faith. We live in eager expectation of entirely sanctified hearts.
The Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16)
• With the vast majority of Christians of all generations, and in agreement with The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy of 1978, Renewal Methodist Church believes, teaches, and confesses that the Bible is inerrant and infallible in all that it teaches.
• The Bible, as the divinely inspired Word of God, is entirely trustworthy in all matters of Christian faith and practice. It reveals all that is necessary for salvation.
Priorities
Worship
• We provide inspirational worship every Sunday, embracing both traditional and contemporary styles, fostering a space where believers can engage with God through worship. (Psalm 95:6)
• We cultivate an environment of radical hospitality where everyone feels welcomed, known, and valued, reflecting Christ's love. Our hospitality teams train to exceed expectations. (1 Peter 4:9)
• We ensure that first-time guests experience a heartfelt welcome and are provided opportunities to become a part of our faith-filled community. We follow up promptly with all visitors. (Romans 15:7)
• We empower and equip our members to serve as worship leaders in various roles, using their unique gifts to serve God and the community. (Romans 12:6-8)
Prayer
• We prioritize prayer as a vital spiritual discipline, encouraging individual and corporate prayer as a means of communication with God, seeking His guidance and intercession. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
• We hold regular prayer meetings and encourage active participation from all members, fostering a community deeply rooted in prayer. (Matthew 18:20)
• We provide resources and guidance to support the personal prayer life of our members, helping them deepen their relationship with God. (Philippians 4:6)
Discipleship
• We offer engaging Christian formation programs for all ages focused on biblical literacy, spiritual growth, and emulating Jesus in daily life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
• We highly prioritize children and youth, acknowledging them as integral parts of the church today, not just the future. We ensure that all our ministries reflect this priority. (Matthew 19:14)
Service
• We mobilize members to serve within the church community and the wider Phoenix west valley in roles aligned with their gifts and passions, reflecting Christ's servant leadership. (Galatians 5:13)
• We organize local outreach programs to enrich our community and demonstrate Christ's love in action. (James 2:14-17)
In our shared commitments, we also encourage:
• Generous giving of time, talents, and treasures to advance Christ's mission. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
• Sharing our faith and making disciples for Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20)
• An active prayer life, seeking to engage in daily communication with God, both individually and collectively. (Luke 18:1)
